As a result of a friendly conversation that I recently had with someone about Miami hip-hop artists, I felt the need to shine light on who I feel is the best to ever do it from the home of the Cocaine Cowboys. Trick recently signed a solo deal, as well as a deal with his group, the Dunk Ryders, with Baby and Cash Money after over a decade with Slip-N-Slide Records. Pharrell & Company knocked it out the park with this release. With a proper mix of hip-hop, rock and drum-n-bass, N.E.R.D. deliver a hot soundscape for the summer. From the opening track, “Time For Some Action”, to my theme song of the moment, “Anti-Matter”, NE.R.D. sets a tone that is reminiscent of In Search Of…. In my opinion, Seeing Sounds is a much better investment than The Carter III.

Hillary Clinton has officially suspended her campaign and endorsed Barack Obama. There were a smattering of boos from her supporters when she endorsed Barack , but mostly cheers. It remains to be seen if the Democratic Party will unite against John McCain and the Republican Party or if the so-called 'Reagan Democrats' will shun the Democratic candidate in favor of a Republican.

I think that Wayne is a good rapper, but the best......unhhh not quite. My opinion was further cemented once I listened to the Carter III twice with a very open mind. It's hard to deny that he was bodied on his own album by virtually every guest rapper on his album....Hov, Busta, Fab and Juelz....that's not hot! This led me to think of the number of current (living, relevant) rappers who I can honestly say are better than Wayne. I thought of 10 in 3 minutes and am currently up to 18. Feel free to add to the list if you agree. If you think that Wayne is the best, feel free to state your case. Whatever your opinion, please give a valid argument.....no clowning or juvenile opinions. This is that grown hip-hop angle that you love.....

Bush admits to flaws in Iraq policy

As the press continues to “humanize” Bush before he leaves office, this interview with Politico is interesting in that it has Bush admittting he was misled by flawed info in regards to Iraq. Says his faith has grown stronger while in office and says he doesn’t believe “race” will be a factor in the upcoming presidential race. He also said he symphasizes with the Democratic nominees and also can’t wait to get to “e-mailing his pals” once he leaves office. In addition to taking pot shots at former President Carter for doing what he refuses to do in the Middle East, he admits that global warming is real and he no longer plays golf because it is the wrong image to be portraying during times of war.

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush said Tuesday he was disappointed in “flawed intelligence” before the Iraq war and was concerned that if a Democrat wins the presidency in November and withdrew troops prematurely it could “eventually lead to another attack on the United States.”
In an interview with the political newspaper Politico and Yahoo News, Bush also said he gave up golf in 2003 out of respect for U.S. soldiers killed in the war, which has now lasted more than five years.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Police have arrested a pizza parlor manager on charges alleging he sold marijuana out of his drive-through window in Fort Smith, Ark.

Authorities said Monday that state and local investigators acting on a tip went to the Pizza Hut restaurant and found six ounces of marijuana and a set of digital scales in the manager's office.

Police said they arrested 28-year-old manager Aaron Massey on Friday on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Massey has been released on $3,500 bail.

31 people shot over the weekend in the Chi....

CHICAGO (WLS) -- By ABC 7 News' count, there have now been 31 people shot in Chicago since Friday. Six people have died.

A 12-year-old and a 14-year-old were among those wounded. Authorities say the boys were shot about 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 5300 block of West Madison. One of them was hurt critically.

As crews were responding to that shooting, a third person was shot, just around the corner. And just 40 minutes earlier, three men were shot, less than a block away.

Sunday afternoon, police superintendent Jody Weis again called for more common sense gun legislation to combat the problem. Police tried to put the numbers in context Sunday and also talk a little bit about the measures they are taking to try and stem the gun violence in Chicago.

Remy found guilty.... looking at 5 to 25 years!

The verdict just came down in the Remy Ma trial, and the rapper has been convicted on four major charges -- two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon.

The charges stem from a 2007 incident in which Remy shot a friend of hers after a fight over $3,000 in cash stolen from Remy's purse. The defense tried to make the shooting an accident -- but it looks like they didn't quite convince the jury.

T.I. to plead guilty today to weapons charges

Rapper T.I. was expected to plead guilty Thursday to federal weapons charges and will face prison time, according to two people familiar with his case.

The 27-year-old singer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison, according to two people familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plea deal had not been finalized yet Thursday morning.

His prison time could be increased or reduced, depending on his fulfillment of the terms of the deal and good behavior, they said. His talks to youth groups are supposed to be about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs.

Allena Ward, a married, 24 year-old South Carolina middle school teacher, was sentenced to 6 years in prison for having sex with at least 5 boys between the ages of 14 and 15. She had encounters with the boys in parks, behind a restaurant and IN SCHOOL!

Some members of the community charged that the sentence was lenient and claimed racial bias. Ward is white and the kids are black.

T.I. talked to MTV about his next project....

T.I. says he doesn't know when his Paper Trail LP will be released this year, but it was clear when he talked to us on Wednesday (February 12) that his competitive itch is coming out, though he's still on house arrest while awaiting trial on gun-possession charges.

"It's a lot of bullsh-- out right now," he told MTV News via phone from Atlanta. "I'm not gonna front. I feel it's definitely about time for somebody to come back out and kick this thing back in gear. The rotation is suffering right now. I intend to do something about it. It's just a matter of when."

In December, Tip sent a video message to his fans via his social-networking site, StreetCred.com, saying that he was 30 percent done with the album. He's obviously been putting in work since then.

"Everything's perfect, everything's perfect," Young Dro, T.I.'s childhood friend and Grand Hustle Records artist, insisted Sunday on the Grammy red carpet. "His mind's state is Paper Trail. Since he's been home, he's recorded like 50 songs. Plus, he's writing [rhymes on paper] now, so y'all in trouble."

One record that is a lock to make the album is "Let My Beat Pound."

"That's gonna be a big record," Tip said. "It's a different record. It's a record I approached differently, and it don't sound like a typical T.I. record. It's basically about when you got your first car, one of the first things was to make sure your [sound] system was right. The love for the boomin' system. It has the sentiments of LL Cool J's 'Boomin' System,' but it kind of sounds like a Sir Mix-A-Lot [song]. It's kinda got the mood and tempo of 'Posse on Broadway,' but it's outta here."

T.I. said it's doubtful that "Let My Beat Pound" will be the album's first single, but it will definitely have a presence. "It'll probably serve the same purpose as 'Top Back' did on King."

Tip promised to give the fans a couple of singles when promotion for Paper Trail begins. "Yeah, I'm definitely gonna make sure you have enough, man," he said. "Nowadays, with the age of the computers, you gotta make sure people have more than one song, so they won't download your single then look away to somewhere else."

When he's not concentrating on music, Tip is spending time in his home theater. The DVD release of his last film, "American Gangster," is February 19. He said he was surprised that the drama was denied Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Actor for Denzel Washington, but he does relish the fact the movie went over so well with the fans.

"It's one of those movies that develop a cult following," he said. "Especially being a true story and having such phenomenal talent involved like Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe, Denzel, Cuba Gooding Jr., Idris Elba. It's got so many talented actors that ... [we] in the hip-hop culture saw ourselves represented. Even though it was in a different era, we were represented. It was flattering to me to see such a high-profile movie be dedicated to the Harlem era."

Tony Yayo assault charges dropped

Tony Yayo’s lawyer Scott Leemon released a statement saying that the District Attorney has dropped all misdemeanor assault charges related to that infamous run-in that Yayo and his friend Lowell Fletcher had with the 14 year old son of Game’s manager, Jimmy Rosemond. Yayo did plead guilty to a violation of harrassment, which his lawyer calls a “glorified traffic ticket.” So I guess Yayo was telling the truth all along. I’m sure he’s feeling vindicated here. Obviously there was some bullying and intimidation of a child here, and that’s still not cool, but what I’m really trying to figure out why the hell that guy Lowell Fletcher isn’t charged with anything. I mean, he admitted that he slapped the teen, right?

The music director of a popular and influential west Baltimore church was accused of raping and assaulting a 13-year-old female parishioner. Baltimore police said that Timothy Price, 32, of Owings Mills, was charged with second-degree rape, assault and child abuse. Price is the music director at Bethel AME Church, which has a congregation of more than 17,000 -- including Mayor Sheila Dixon. Price was arrested Wednesday night and is being held on $1 million bail.

Police said that Price had sex with the girl in his car three times between November and January. The alleged encounters took place in a west Baltimore alley and in the parking lot of Druid Hill Park.
